eLearning Edition of "Software Inspections and Peer Reviews" presented by Karl Wiegers, Principal Consultant at Process Impact www.processimpact.com Copyright (c) 2004 by Karl Wiegers. All Rights Reserved. Thank you for licensing this training course, which is a comprehensive and pragmatic overview of software peer reviews and inspections. System Requirements =================== 1. You will need a Web browser. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari are recommended, although other browsers may work. 2. You will need the Adobe Flash player plug-in for your browser. 3. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF reader to view or print the PDF files. 4. A set of sample requirements documents are provided as a Zip file, so you'll need to unzip it with any of the tools that can handle Zip files. 5. You will need Microsoft Word and Excel to access the reference documents in those formats. 6. You will need speakers or headphones to hear the audio. 7. Set your screen resolution to at least 800x600. 8. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser. Running the Presentations ========================= If you are running the course from a CD, View the file directory for the CD and launch the index.html page. The course menu should open in your default browser. If that doesn't work, try the following: 1. View the file directory for the CD, right-click on index.html, select Open With, and select your web browser. 2. View the file directory for the CD in your Web browser and open the index.html page from there. 3. Copy the files from the CD to your computer and then launch the index.html file in the root folder of the file structure. Troubleshooting =============== Some users encounter problems with playback of the modules because of Adobe Flash Player security settings. If you see a gray screen or a stalled progress bar when launching a module, please try the following: 1. Go to the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager at http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html. 2. Select the Global Security Settings tab (third tab from the left). 3. Add the path to the course files (whether running from the CD drive or copied to your hard drive) as a trusted location with the Edit Locations dropdown. This should solve the problem. With Firefox browser versions 55 and later, you might also need to change a configuration setting: 1. In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. 2. Click on the "I accept the risk" (or similarly labeled) button. 3. In the search box above the list, type or paste plug*ht and wait while the list is filtered. 4. Double-click the plugins.http_https_only preference to switch the value from true to false. This will tell Firefox that it's okay to play Flash (and other) content from your PC instead of only content from a website. Single-User License Terms ========================= 1.
